"If you and your pet could communicate by paper, what would you write to each other?" was the question posed to the 58 families featured in this book. Their notes will make you laugh, cry, nod in agreement, smile and wag your tail. Coupled with over 200 photos, this book is a heart warming, intimate look at the bond we share with the animals in our lives.

The inspiration for this touching collection comes from the aftermath of a terrible accident incurred by Andy, one of Emily's Yorkshire Terriers. The outpouring of support and sympathy by other Yorkie guardians illustrated that our bond to our pets can connect us despite our distances and differences.

05-1-2006 — It is with extreme pleasure that we announce our alliance with the National Canine Cancer Foundation. The National Canine Cancer Foundation is a nationwide, contribution funded, non-profit corporation dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem in dogs by funding grants for the scientific efforts of cancer researchers who are working to save lives, find a cure, find better treatments, find more accurate, cost effective, diagnostic methods in dealing with cancer, and diminishing dogs’ suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy, and service.

We at Canine Cancer Awareness are proud to join forces with the NCCF in combating this disease. We understand that as important as our presence is in raising awareness and funds to help those battling this disease, it is equally important to ensure that research continues to enable our dogs to have healthier, longer lives. It is the wish of both of our perspective organizations to see that one day no dog suffers from cancer again. We have added a page on our web site specifically dedicated to the National Canine Cancer Foundation. There, our visitors will be capable linking to their web site directly and, if they so choose, donating to the National Canine Cancer Foundation to ensure that research continues. We will also be adding any updates from the NCCF regarding breakthroughs and current clinical trials onto our newly formed NCCF page .

Once again, we are humbled by the efforts of Ane Morales who has once again donated to CCA in memory of her Fatty. As our supporters may recall, Ane was selling "Friends of Fatty" bracelets on Fatty's web site while Fatty was battling lymphoma.

Want to help Canine Cancer Awareness raise funds without actually opening your wallet? You can, right from your computer. We are all familiar with the popular search engine, Google. There is now a new search engine formulated to donate funds to non-profit organizations. Go to this address: http://www.goodsearch.com , scroll down just a bit and then type in Canine Cancer Awareness where it asks which organization you are supporting. You will then navigate back to the top of the page where you type in your search topic just as you are accustomed. The search engine is powered by Yahoo. For each search initiated, CCA will receive .01. This does not sound like much but if CCA can generate 10,000 supporters and have at least 2 average searches per day, the estimated revenue is $73,000 a year. This would go a long way to help dogs living with cancer. Please use it faithfully and tell all of your family and friends. Use it wisely, as fraudulent searches will result in our charity being unlisted.

Sales of our logo pins and dog tags has generated much interest. Please keep those sales coming. We have experienced a wave of inquiries and requests from newly affected owners on how to obtain financial assistance. We would like to be able to help all those who have completed an application.

To those who donate to a specific dog (either in honor of or in memory of), a certificate of acknowledgment will be mailed to that dog's owner. When available, a photo of the dog, who's named in the donation that has been made, will be included in the certificate. Please include the owner's address when donating.

04-12-2006 — Lapel Pins and Dog Tags are here! Skip Van Der Marliere & George Britton of Santa Ana, California have gone above and beyond for our cause. Having lost their own dog Maya from this disease, they took it in their own hands to pick something from our wish list and make it happen. Back when CCA was in it's infancy, it was through the sales of Canine Cancer Awareness lapel pins and dog tags that helped to establish us to where we are today. They were very popular and sold out quickly. Later, we incorporated our bracelets and magnets into our program, but the lapel pins and dog tags have been missed. We are selling them for at the same $10.00 price tag as the originals. See them here in our Online Store .

We extend our appreciation to Dana Billingsley who has taken on her own fundraising drive for Canine Cancer Awareness. She is raising money at her local dog bakery (Salty Paws Biscuits) and put a jar at the counter. The owner of the bakery said she would keep the jar at the counter through the summer (tourist season) and she hopes to raise more money "in Milo's name to help people and their dogs with cancer who may need some help with their bills". So far, Dana has raised $158.00 for our cause. Thank you Dana! Keep up the great work!

03-24-06 — It is with profound sadness and utter shock that we announce Mocha's sudden passing. Mocha was home, happy and playing with her owner when she suddenly collapsed. Efforts to save her life were unsuccessful.

03-22-06 — We are pleased to announce that the board of Canine Cancer Awareness held it's monthly meeting where we have allocated $2,000.00 each to Mocha and Mali from our general account. Mocha's owner recently applied to us for financial assistance. Mocha's fight has involved open heart surgery and a chest tube to relieve fluids filling in her lung cavity. Mocha is a dog requiring urgent sponsorship and is now added to our sponsors needed page. You will be touched by Mocha's story and bravery. We are. In other news, we are happy to welcome Amanda Nelson as the newest member of our board. Amanda has jumped in "feet first", already scheduling CCA fundraising events to be held in memory of her dog Chance.

03-18-2006 — All of us at Canine Cancer Awareness send out our deepest sympathies to Ane Morales and her family on the loss of Fatty on March 11th after a valiant 9 month battle with lymphoma. 4 years old is way too young. Ane has been a loyal supporter donating all of the proceeds from her "Friends of Fatty" bracelets to our cause. To read more about Fatty, please go to: www.friendsoffatty.com . Godspeed Fatty, we will miss you.

We would like to thank Paul Livingstone of the Portland Press Herald for his informative article on CCA which was published on March 8th. Hopefully, this will have reached affected owners so that they know they are not alone. Unfortunately, the article is not available online. This is the second time in a month that CCA's work is featured in the press. Carla Hall of the LA Times wrote a wonderful article on 2-14 featuring Cuervo Torres, one of our formally sponsored dogs. To read Carla's article, please click here. We are all making a difference!

Canine Cancer Awareness has recently become the recipient of a generous $1,000 donation made by Multi-Pak Corporation. We are truly touched by their efforts to help us help others. Thank you Multi-Pak!

We also extend our appreciation to Suzanne Zimmerman and her family for their continued support. They have, for the second year, donated funds in memory of their dog Max to host this web site. They truly deserve special mention as they are the ones making your reading this and viewing anything on this site possible.
